Introduction: Shani B

Name: Shani B
Class Year: 2014
Major: Linguistics Modified with Women's and Gender Studies

HELLO my gorgeous viewers!

My name is Shani and I am a senior at a small New England college. I was born and raised in Waltham, MA. My parents hail from JAMAICA and my heritage is EXTREMELY important to me. While in college I have been involved in many things. I am a founder of a new Caribbean group on my campus. I do a lot of singing on campus and I currently run my own singing group at church.  I have fallen head-over-heels in love with my sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and I am the current Vice President and Step/Stroll Mistress for my chapter. I have been stepping since high school so I love the opportunity to share my passion with my sorority sisters. So blessed to have such wonderful sisters!

I love to COOK and BAKE...Jamaican food, American food, basically anything.

Oh! And my favorite color is PURPLE!

Introduction: Lorelei

Hi! I'm Lorelei, and I'm a junior at a small liberal arts college in New England. I'm a double major in Government and English and a minor in Public Policy. I'm an only child of immigrant parents who grew up on the West coast of the United States. Here on campus, I edit the Opinions section of our campus newspaper, conduct research in the government department and work with sexual assault advocacy. I'm really interested in women's issues, human rights, media and politics — so expect me to write about those things fairly frequently. I also enjoy online shopping; so I'll occasionally offer tips on personal style and commentary on the fashion industry.

Introduction: Steph

Hey everyone! My name is Steph. I am British/South African but my family currently lives in France. I am a junior at a small New England college, studying Government and Theatre. I know - a weird combination and I would challenge you to think of a joke that I haven't heard about my double major. I am really involved in the theatre department and a Shakespeare performance group on campus. I do a lot of theatre. I am also part of a national sorority which has been such an amazing experience in college. I'm hoping to go into (you guessed it!) theatre after graduation although I will continue to deny that the real world exists until that moment comes. I am a huge fan of traveling (especially Italy), nerdy tv shows, and a dry sense of humor.

Introduction: Francis

Hey y’all! My name is Francis. For nineteen years I called the sunny and ever warm Southwest home. Now I am attending a small liberal arts college in New England. Before, you ask, yes! The cold is definitely something I had to get used to, but surprisingly getting used to a lifestyle subsistent on J. Crew and Bean boots was a lot more difficult. I am a sophomore now and cannot imagine being at any other college. I am a government major and biology minor. On campus, I am involved in programs that help promote a comfortable environment for racial minorities and LGBTQA identified students. Other than academia I am a foodie, enjoy fashion and love healthy living. I can’t wait to tell you the ins and outs of college on this blog!

Introduction: Julia

Hi, all! My name is Julia. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm now a senior government major at a college in New England. My main activity at school is being a coxswain for the Men's Heavyweight Rowing team, so I'm the person who gets to yell at all of the big, tall boys. I am also a member of a national sorority and a member of the Executive Board of the Panhellenic Council, which oversees all eight sororities (and the +1,000 affiliated women) on campus. I am a HUGE foodie, and I also love fashion and art, so I am incredibly excited to be moving to New York after graduation!!

Introduction: Marie

Hi everyone! My name is Marie. I grew up in southern California, and am now a sophomore at a small New England college. I’m a government major and public policy minor, and hope to pursue a career in law after graduation. At school, I write for the campus newspaper, am a member of Student Assembly, and am on the student staff of the campus public policy center. My first two years of college have been fantastic so far, and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences on the blog!

Introduction: Susanna

Hey everyone! My name is Susanna and I'm a sophomore at a small New England college. I live in London, England, but my family is 100% American (I'm a Jersey girl, born and bred). I'm a government major, and a French minor. At school I play for the club ice hockey, field hockey and figure skating teams, and I am a member of a national sorority. I'm involved with the public policy center on campus, and hope to work in law or government after graduation. I love to travel, and this spring I'm studying abroad in Paris, which I could not be more excited for!
